Books That Have Caught My Eye

There are a few books that have caught my attention this last month that I am excited to get my hands on and read. I have heard great things about them from people have been raving on about them all over the internet! So, to keep this post short and sweet, here are three books that are on my list or TBR wishlist.

The Lies We Told by Camilla Way

37905907

“When Clara’s boyfriend, Luke, disappears, everyone believes that he’s left her, but Clara thinks she knows the truth. Recent evidence suggests that Luke had a stalker, and Clara worries that he’s been kidnapped. Then Luke’s older sister, Emma, who vanished twenty years ago, suddenly reappears.

Emma wants to help Clara with her search for Luke, but she refuses to talk about what happened–even though it nearly destroyed her family when she vanished. And the deeper Clara digs into Luke’s mysterious disappearance, the more convinced she is that the two incidents are connected.”

PROS & CONS of Physical and Digital Books

An age-old debate: What kind of book is better, Physical or Electronic?

For a while now readers have been divided into two groups, those who read physical books and those who read on a Kindle. With the introduction of the Kindle, many people have stopped purchasing physical books from bookstores for quite a few valid reasons. As a reader who utilises both physical and Ebooks, I think that I can speak for both sides of the debate and provide you with a great starting point if you are thinking about buying yourself a kindle in the future. As the title of this posts suggests I will be discussing the pros and cons of reading both physical and Ebooks.

Disclaimer: There is no right or wrong way to read a book, whether it be physical or electronic. I am in no way bashing the medium that a reader chooses to engage with.

Books I just HAD to buy but are still sitting unread on my shelf

Okay, So from the heading of this post you should all have figured out what I’m going to be talking about today. This will probably apply to some of you readers out there! I have a bad habit of buying books that I just have to read and having them sit on my shelves for AGES.

I guess you could put this down to laziness, but let me tell you. I think it’s a little different! You know sometimes you just have this absolute need to read a book so you pick it up and just go with it and end up finishing it within a couple of hours or days. This usually occurs with me, and usually those books I have brought stay on my shelves because I fell like I’m not ready to read them yet. Hence why they are left unread. It’s funny though, seeing my parents question my whole process. They just don’t understand why I keep going out and buying more books to sit on my shelf. I guess anyone who doesn’t read wouldn’t understand. It doesn’t really matter how long they have been on my shelves, it could be months or days, I will end up reading them!

So without further analysis about this topic, I guess I should tell you guys all about these books that I have not read yet that are feeling lonely on my bookshelf.

My Book Blogging Goals for 2016

Holey Moley, IT’S NEARLY 2016. I mean seriously where the hell has this year gone!!!!!????

Here are some goals that I have created for next year!

  • Reach 50+ Followers! (Because I’m vain like that)
  • Blog as frequently as I can (Mon, Wed, Fri)
  • Try to be more talkative with other people on this website
  • Read More Books!! (20+ Yes a small goal, because I want to actually achieve it!)
  • Gain more active followers! You guys should talk to me more! (sorry, I’ll try harder, I promise)
  • Get into contact with publishers and see if I’m able to do reviews for them (hopefully, fingers crossed!)
  • Find an appropriate theme (I’m not loving mine right now, a fresh start is needed)
  • Improve on my grammar and punctuation (because I believe I’m not doing well with those!)
  • Improve on my reviews and posts! (More professional type reviews and no waffle! [I know, waffles are just too good though])
  • Find my Mojo on here and Instagram (failing hard)
  • Gain more confidence!!

Do you guys have any new years resolutions or goals for 2016? If so please tell me! Have a great year guys, let’s hope it doesn’t go as fast as 2015! (God help us please)

Books I Would Take with Me to a Deserted Island

This post is obviously going to be all about books I would take with me if I was going to be deserted on an Island. This would include:

1 – Vampire Academy Books (SHOCK HORROR OMG)

I would bring the Vampire Academy by Richelle Mead with me if I was going to be stranded on an Island. Not only because they are my favourite books, but because I don’t think I can get sick of them at all. I would read them quite a few times as I wait to be rescued and meanwhile relax in the sun. Argh, If you haven’t read them do yourself a massive favour!

2 – Throne of Glass series

Since I have only started this series I think it would be fair to say I would read this quite quickly if I was deserted on an Island by myself. Who knows, I could end up hating it and burying it in the sand OR absolutely love it and it could outdo VA (HAHA NEVER!)

3 – The Perks of being a Wallflower

This is a book I haven’t read yet so I would bring this book with me because I have been wanting to read it for quite some time. I loved the movie and am hoping that the book will be even better than the movie!

Warm Bodies

4 – Warm Bodies

Warm bodies is my current read so I guess it’s a no-brainer to bring it with me. Again, if I dislike it I’ll bury it in the sand somewhere *shrugs*

5 – Glass Sword

BECAUSE I CAN, AND I WILL SPEND MY TIME CRYING OVER IT BECAUSE I’M A SAD HUMAN BEING

percyjacksonbazbox.jpg6 – Percy Jackson books

Because God help me I haven’t read a single one of them and I swear if I’m going to be marooned on an Island I want something to keep my mind off the fact that I’m by myself *sobs* and I have to read it because it’s just a must!!! (It’s been on my TBR list for way too long, ITS TIME)

Okay! So they are the books I would take with me if I was deserted on an Island by myself. If you have the same kind of books you would bring with you, definitely tell me why you chose them! If not, what books would you bring with you? What are your top 3 picks?

Also, I hope they tell me before I go on this Island because I need time to pack these things! (and in some instances buy them *oops*)😂😂

Have a great day guys!!!

Bookshelves are Finally Here!

Hello, Hello!

So, recently my parents agreed that I could have a few shelves on my walls in my room. This may sound stupid and you may be asking ‘why are you even excited about this’ and ‘why do you need your parents permission??!’ but I still live in my parents house (I don’t think moving out while I’m at University is a smart idea, I need to save money) and my room is literally a shoe box and awkwardly shaped. So finally having room other then the top of a relatively normal sized desk and tallboy, I can display my beautiful books in a way that doesn’t look like clutter!

I added some fairy lights (yeah so original, I know) and some lanterns (I can hear you all sighing) to pretty it up a bit. I just cant stop staring at my shelves, weird right? 😅😂
